Meet Dr. Hughes

Bertram J. Hughes, DMD

Dr. Hughes has been practicing dentistry for over 20 years. He has based his practice on treating families and children with a special emphasis of treating those patients with a limited access to quality health care. He has dedicated his life to this mission. Currently, he serves as Treasurer to the National Dental Association Foundation, a dental organization whose mission is caring for the underserved and underrepresented. Dr. Hughes is also the General Chairman for the Florida National Dental Convention. This is Florida Dental Association arm for continuing education. He is also heavily involved in the Gainesville / Alachua County communities. Dr. Hughes serves on the board of STOP! Children's Cancer, the African American Accountability Alliance and is a partner with the Harn Museum of Art. He is a delegate for Alachua County to the State Dental Association and is a Past-President of the Alachua County Dental Association. He is also a member of the Pierre Fauchard International Dental Honor Society. Dr. Hughes was born in Brooklyn, NY, though he grew up in Los Angeles and Jacksonville. He attended the University of Florida for both undergraduate studies and for Dental School. Dr. Hughes is an avid tennis player and golfer. He enjoys gardening, science and teaching young people the keys to success
